川内鹿踊

1781（安永10）年、仙台の小松の庄に酒屋稼ぎに行った喜惣太が習い覚えて帰って伝えたもので、毎年お盆に踊られてきた。毎年の盆の15日には地域の初盆の家で供養の回向(えこう)をし、橋や神社でも踊る。16日には菩提寺流月院で供養踊りをして、先祖代々受け継がれている伝統を守っている。
囃子は、太鼓と笛が２人ずつ、シシは太夫ジシ１人、脇ジシ２人、小ジシ２人、女ジシ１人の構成である。幕をさげた鹿の頭をかぶり、背中に長いヤナギをつけ、幕を振りながら踊る。

This is a shishiodori that a man named Kisota learned in Sendai where had gone to work for a sake dealer, and later brought back to his home village in 1781. It has been performed during the Bon Festival (August 15 and 16) every year. On August 15, it visits homes in their first year of mourning to pray for the dead, and also dances on bridges and in shrines. On August 16, it performs a ritual for the dead at the local Ryugetsu-in temple, which is the tradition passed down from the ancestors. Backup musicians are comprised of two drummers and two flutists. Shishi dancers are one main shishi, two side shishi, two tiny shishi, and one female shishi.
