小沢獅子踊り

平泉を逃れた源義経(みなもとのよしつね)が、北方に落ち延びる途中、黒森神社に参籠し前途の平穏を祈って大般若経を書写したと伝えられている。小沢の鹿子踊りが義経一行のつれづれを慰めたところ、義経は非常に喜び、踊りの所作や調べについて様ざまな助言をなしたので、小沢鹿子踊りは一段と洗練され、勇壮華麗なものとなって今日に伝承されたと言う。
長年にわたり、宮古小学校郷土伝承委員会での伝承活動にも取り組んでいる。

According to one legend, Minamoto no Yoshitsune was not killed in Hiraizumi but escaped and fled northward. The story goes that he shut himself up in Kuromori Shrine on the way and transcribed the Daihannya-kyo (Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra) to pray for peace and quiet ahead. In Kozawa, the shishi dancers entertained Yoshitsune and his men; Yoshitsune was extremely delighted and gave the dancers various advice about their motions and melodies. Thus the Kozawa Shishiodori was refined yet further, becoming the gallant and splendid dance that has been handed down to the present day.
