大正の初期に釜石から習い覚え、大漁を祈願して踊られるようになりました。山田八幡宮神幸祭、大杉神社神幸祭で踊られています。中でも、大杉神社神幸祭では虎が舞い、囃子が鳴り響く中、神輿の海上渡御が行われます。

Yamada Sakaida Toramai (Yamada Town)
This toramai (tiger dance) was learned from Kamaishi in the early Taisho period and danced to pray for a big catch in the sea. The dance is performed at the Yamada Hachiman Shrine Shinkosai and the Osugi Shrine Shinkosai. In the Osugi Shrine Shinkosai, a tiger dances and the mikoshi shrine is carried across the sea while the ohayashi music is played.
